Karshi: our office and the plant

Air Products' high-tech units, which are part of production at the UzGTL plant (UzbekistanGTL is a plant for the production of synthetic liquid fuels), are located in Kashkadaryaregion of Uzbekistan.

Air Products office, our lively and light “oasis in the desert,” is also locatedat the manufacturing facility.

Process Engineering Lead

We are looking for a Process Engineering Lead to join our team based in Karshi. You will report to Engineering Manager and will be responsible for providing process support to the Air separation Unit (ASU) and Auto Thermal Reformer (ATR) and Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) plants at Qarshi GTL Uzbekistan Gases facility.

As the Process Engineering Lead you will:

  • Process expert for Air Separation Unit (ASU), Auto Thermal Reformer (ATR) and Hydrogen technologies present on the facility
  • Plant operating support
  • Provide technical support to the operations team to ensure safe plant operation in line with the plant operating procedure and input technical expertise for troubleshooting production and process performance issues;
  • Identify deviations in plant performance, develop technical solution and drive to a timely closeout to minimise underperformance;
  • Support non-standard process activities including start-ups/shutdowns.
  • Productivity and Plant Modification
  • Assess and quantify benefits of plant improvement to enable business case justification
  • Develop knowledge of applicable standards, design tools and work process to ensure any modification are carried out in line with the correct engineering requirements and internal AP standards
  • Produce PID change notes and process specification including functional logic table, alarm and trip system, critical safety, equipment specifications.
  • Review technical documentation and provide process input to hazard studies.

You will have:

An accredited formal Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering supplemented by a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Process engineer working in a plant operations role.

Supplemented by the following:

  • Languages – Uzbek, Russian and English proficiency, both oral & written.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills across all levels (technical and non-technical)
  • Process engineering knowledge of Air Separation, Gasification and/or Hydrogen Production
  • Experience working with plant control systems and advanced control systems for process optimisation
  • Experience in troubleshooting plant operations, with excellent analytical skills and the ability to follow a logical work process to reach a solution. Experienced in Root Cause Analysis.
