Plant Team Leader/ Manager.

Job purpose:

For Bukhara PV plant.

The HV Engineer Operations & Maintenance is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all high voltage equipment and grid interface systems at our utility-scale solar PV power plant. This includes managing and maintaining components such as the main power transformers, HV switchgear, protection relays, metering systems, and interconnection infrastructure.

The role demands both hands-on technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate with utilities, grid operators, and internal teams for switching operations, fault clearance, testing, and compliance.

Job Description:

  • Daily Operations & Monitoring:
  • Monitor HV system parameters (voltage, current, protection relay status) via SCADA, protection panels, and metering interfaces.
  • Ensure all HV systems operate within safe and acceptable limits, and respond promptly to alarms or trips.
  • Conduct daily walkdowns of MV/HV yards, transformer zones, and switchgear rooms to identify early signs of degradation or abnormal conditions.
  • Maintenance & Testing

  • Plan and supervise scheduled preventive maintenance of HV assets including power transformers, CT/PT units, GIS/AIS switchgear, isolators, earth switches, and grounding systems.
  • Coordinate diagnostic testing such as DGA, insulation resistance, contact resistance, breaker timing, and relay calibration.
  • Support predictive and condition-based maintenance programs for critical HV components.
  • Fault Management & Grid Coordination

  • Lead response to HV faults, including isolation, initial diagnosis, root cause analysis, and coordination of repair actions.
  • Liaise with the national grid operator for switching instructions, outage permits, and energization requests.
  • Ensure protection coordination studies and relay settings are updated when system changes occur.
  • Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed logs for switching operations, maintenance activities, test results, and fault analysis.
  • Ensure HV equipment is operated and maintained in line with local grid code, safety rules, and international standards (e.g., IEC 61850, IEEE C37 series).
  • Support internal and external audits, HSE inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Team Support & Safety

  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and contractors working on HV equipment.
  • Ensure all work is conducted under valid permits and LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) protocols.
  • Conduct tool-box talks, risk assessments, and field safety briefings prior to HV-related work.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HV systems operations or maintenance, preferably in power generation, transmission, or utility-scale solar PV.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Power transformers (up to 220kV or as applicable)
    • HV circuit breakers (SF6, vacuum), isolators, and busbars
    • Protection relay logic, CT/PT operation, and metering schemes
  • Familiarity with SCADA/DAS systems and HV interconnection schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret SLDs, protection coordination curves, and switching procedures.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment such as relay test kits, insulation testers, circuit analyzers, and thermal cameras.
  • Behavioral Competencies

  • English: Required – for technical reporting, grid communication, and OEM/vendor coordination.
  • Uzbek or Russian: Preferred – for on-site team interaction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with SCADA/HMI interfaces.
