Join ACWA Power for Beruniy Project - Exciting Opportunities in Project Site, Karakalpakstan Republic, Uzbekistan
The Beruniy 200 MW Wind Farm + 200MWh BESS + 220kV 44 km OHTL project is a greenfield Independent Power Project IPP that is developed by ACWA Power in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Republic of Uzbekistan. The project is based on PPP law and publicly tendered wind project.
ACWA Power and the JSC National Electrical Grid of Uzbekistan signed a 25-year Public-Private Partnership Agreement (PPPA) for the development/construction/operation/maintenance of a 200 MW onshore wind power plant including 100MWh battery energy storage system (“BESS”) and 44 km 220kv with double circuit single tower OHTL. JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan acts as the sole off-taker.
The project will be located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and will be developed as a ‘Build, Own, Operate, Transfer’ project. ACWA Power will take the lead in the construction, engineering, operation and maintenance of the plant.
Job Description:
- Provide technical and HSSE management support and leadership to the Project Company’s HSSE team, EMOs, PDs.
- Support each Asset’s HSSE team by periodically attending meetings with their contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to review HSSE progress and advise them on the HSSE management and performance.
- Participate in risk assessments and task reviews of key activities to assist in identifying and preventing HSSE hazards that may lead to significant losses.
- Attend meetings with contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to review HSSE progress and advise them on the HSSE management and performance in order to create awareness and ensure adherence to defined standards.
- Monitor and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Project Company’s HSSE management systems and ensure they conform to ACWA Power Group standards, deliver compliance with HSSE legal requirements and contractual obligations.
- Implement, undertake and report on a schedule of site HSSE tours, inspections and audits and the actions that arise for the Regional/Country Assets whose scope includes evaluation the effectiveness and compliance of each Project Company’s HSSE management and performance and that of their EPC Contractor’s/O&M Service Provider’s.
- Lead regular HSSE meetings with the HSSE personnel from each ProjectCo that reviews HSSE management and performance, prioritize actions plus escalate outstanding HSSE issues to the Regional Asset Monthly Meetings.
- Review, assure and act upon Region/Country Asset’s periodic HSSE management and performance reports.
- Monitor the effectiveness of HSSE training to ensure that ProjectCo and HSSE personnel are competent and effective.
- Coach and advise ProjectCo and HSSE personnel plus EPC / O&M contractors on the content of HSSE standards in order to create awareness and enable best practices.
- Guide and coordinate the development and implementation of HSSE campaigns on the site to ensure proper HSSE Culture is disseminated to all employees and contract staff.
- Liaise with and maintain positive working relationships with National and Regional regulators and emergency services, EPC, and O&M contractors etc., representing ACWA Power, to ensure mutual support and adherence to HSSE compliance requirements.
- Regularly liaise and engage with and seek support from the ACWA Power Group HSSE team to ensure HSSE management and performance is aligned with current standards and practice.
- Monitor the day-to-day work of the HSSE teams by providing guidance, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating related professional work processes to achieve high performance standards and ensure that employees’ activities are performed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
- Manage self and team in line with ACWA Power’s people management policies, procedures, processes, and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance.
- Develop, resource, implement and report on HSSE actions plans that are based on past performance and aim to deliver best practices.
- Maintain professional competence and understanding of industry trends, methodologies, tools, and best practices in project management in relation to HSE practices.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering or demonstrable equivalent
- Certification from a recognized HSSE institution (NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, IEMA, etc.)
- 10 years’ experience in HSSE function in the Power / Energy sector or similar industries
- 3 years of supervisory role in HSSE department.
