System Engineer

TBC Bank Group PLC established Space International with the strategic aim of facilitating the group's global expansion efforts. In 2018, the team successfully introduced the pioneering neobank, Space, in Georgia. Building upon this success, subsequent efforts were directed towards the creation and launch of the fully digital bank in Uzbekistan, TBC UZ, in 2020. In a significant move towards enhancing its foothold in the Uzbek market, the group acquired Payme, a prominent local payments provider and esteemed brand among the Uzbek populace, in 2023.

Presently, a dedicated team of 1,700 professionals representing 17 nationalities collaborates to advance TBC's international presence. Space International spearheads the provision of cutting-edge technologies and top-tier professional services, while the local teams at Payme and TBC Uzbekistan drive sustained growth and operational excellence.

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer with strong expertise in on-premises infrastructure to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, Kubernetes, and middleware platforms such as JBoss/WildFly. This role will focus on ensuring reliable hosting, scaling, and performance of mission-critical applications, including enterprise Java-based services, while supporting modernization initiatives across infrastructure and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Systems Administration
• • Manage, configure, and optimize Linux/Unix servers across on-premise environments.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Kubernetes & Container Platforms
• • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters (on-prem).
  • Support containerized workloads for Java applications, ensuring high availability and resilience.
• Middleware & Application Hosting
• • Administer and support JBoss/WildFly and related Java application servers.
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of Java applications.
  • Collaborate with developers to optimize application performance in production.
• Operational Reliability & Security
• • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for proactive incident management.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, system hardening, and access management.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application-level issues across multiple layers.
• Automation & Scripting
• • Develop automation scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to streamline operations.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for consistent and repeatable deployments.
• Collaboration & Support
• • Partner with DevOps, developers, and network/security teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide 2nd/3rd-level support for critical infrastructure incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Strong background in Linux/Unix system administration (RHEL, CentOS, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (on-prem or hybrid).
• Proficiency with JBoss/WildFly or other enterprise Java hosting platforms.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
• Experience in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Solid understanding of monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VMware, Nutanix, or other on-prem virtualization platforms.
• Exposure to databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and their integration with hosted apps.
• Knowledge of ITIL practices, change management, and incident management workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex multi-layer environments.

• Familiarity with cloud-native migration strategies is a plus.
